Scenario 1: Make a Connection

Scenario 1: Make a Connection

In this video, real patients talk about how they want to feel a connection with their doctors and valued by them. Patients surveyed also expressed the desire for their care teams to be compassionate about them and their care.

As one patient told us in the Real Talk Survey:

“I didn’t feel the clinic cared about their patients or had any consideration for my time because they never reviewed my file before an appointment.”

Using the 4 “E”s, how can we reframe how we see the “disconnected” patient? Realize how great it is that this patient wants to connect and is motivated to continue her treatment. How can we show the patient how much we care as her practitioner?

Think: I’ll show that I’m familiar with the patient’s situation, such as referring to the last visit or what I want us to accomplish together in this visit.
