In this video, patients talk about how they feel seen by their fertility teams. Like many we surveyed, they’ve been on their fertility journeys for years and have known many emotional highs and lows. And yet, they feel acutely aware that they’re viewed as “poor prognosis” patients.

As Katy, age 37, who has been trying to conceive for three years, told us in the Real Talk survey:

“I was hoping that they would change protocol, and it was discussed, but in the end, they did not change protocol at all.”

Using the 4 “E”s Protocol, how can we reframe how we see the “poor prognosis” patient? Yes, she has experienced multiple failures but consider too that she is motivated and grateful for out-of-the-box approaches. Realize that this patient will work with you and your team to find solutions.

Think: I can tackle her challenges with positive language, and a solution-oriented approach that includes options.
